"For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." -Philippians 2:13
The above verse sums up everything. I give all credit of my talent with artwork to God. He's also blessed me with many things in this lifetime, but I've not always known. However, I've always known that this gift of art just didn't happen before I even came to Christ. I knew it was given to me and that it shouldn't be put to waste.
I grew up outside of the town of Powell, Wyoming. The local inhabitants had a funny name of calling it Little Polecat (yes, we had tons of skunks!). Anyway, I had a loving family that always supported me in doing what I thought I was made to do. I grew up different from most kids. I went to public school, but I never wanted to act like the other kids. I was more mature, so I wasn't very popular. That's when I discovered my artwork. It helped me get away from the norms of the world and be proud of myself for who I was. At the time, I wasn't a Christian. I was in a phase of searching. As I went through school, the first class I would always sign up for was Art. English was second, which I'm also a writer too. Everything else was last. Granted I graduated with honors, but I was focused on art and writing. By the time I graduated I was gaining skills in pencil portraits, watercolor, colored pencil, pen and ink, and oil paintings. After I graduated I found Christ who helped me develop my future in the years of attending Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming. During college I developed a liking to mixed media which allowed me to mix different mediums. Artwork helped me distress myself from coarse work and from the stress of performing in the theatre/movie productions. I graduated with honors with and Associates of English Writing in 2012. It was then I met the love of my life, Jay, who I married a year later. He supports me so much with my talents and is a big help in producing ideas of drawings. Now I am here doing what I want to do. I do my artwork and I work on my first novel that I hope to produce sometime next year.
Artwork for me is a way to get my emotions out, but there is a trick to doing something like that. Everything is inspired by the Lord himself and I just put it on the canvas/paper. People think God is about rules and causing destruction, but my artwork is to show other things. God has a sense of beauty on this world and I plan to show everyone that. I'm a Christian, but I'm a normal person. That's what I'm about.
